ARTIST IDEOLOGY
A Spiritual Journey
Art is an inseparable part of my life; it is the language through which I express the events unfolding around and within me. I create from a place of inner silence and a union of my various parts, reaching a sense of harmony. In the process of creation, the material becomes a conductor, a language through which I flow into dimensions of light and love. The textures, particularly those in white and gold leaf, deepen the meditative experience that accompanies my creative moments.
In my paintings, stillness and storm, depth and majesty coexist; movement is infused with tranquility. Many of my works offer a glimpse beyond the surface level. This combination of profound observation, occurrence, and serenity creates a therapeutic atmosphere within the piece.
My work invites the observer to perceive the whole and the unifying: between the microcosm and the greater world; between external landscapes and the inner landscape; between the individual and the being that surrounds them. In this way, the viewer can experience a simultaneous connection to both the external and internal space. Shanina Touson
Seeing Them Guide - Written by Shanina Touson in 2023
"Seeing Them" is a way of teaching that I have developed over 35 years of teaching art. I study and teach to see the students in a way of observation and attentive presence. The name "To see them" is inspired by Hanukkah candles "To see them only...", which I enjoy looking at. In the Hebrew language, the use of the expression of the sense of sight also expresses distance and vision (to foresee/see). In this little book I bring what guided me as an art teacher and the characteristics that helped me see and understand my students. "Seeing Them" is a quiet way of giving that fills me with admiration for human beauty.
